What is HomeCode? A smarter way to navigate real estate decisions

        February 11, 2026Troy Palmquist

We’ve created a peer-driven resource designed to help agents and brokerages evaluate solutions with clarity, context and confidence

Those of you who’ve followed my work from industry stages and in media like Inman, HousingWire, BAM and other publications know that I love to sit down with founders and builders across the real estate landscape, with an emphasis on tech founders in particular.

A new tech tool or operational platform is about more than a username and password. It’s a monthly bill that hits your credit card, but it can also have a dramatic impact on your business — on the customer journey and on your own brand differentiation and growth.

HomeCode is a clearinghouse of information geared to the way agents and brokers work. It’s my attempt to put together the information, resources, interviews and insights I’m gathering every day, providing them to you so that you can make better, more informed decisions about every dollar you spend.

Here you’ll find podcasts, articles, pitch battles and more. You’ll have opportunities to weigh in as well, by voting, commenting and asking questions. By creating a dialog, my hope is that we’ll all learn from each other and put the latest information to work in a boots-on-the-ground, nitty-gritty kind of way.

        Frequently Asked Questions

        What is HomeCode?

HomeCode is a peer-driven resource for real estate professionals who want practical context to help them make better business decisions. It combines a curated directory, interviews and editorial content to show how agents, teams and brokerages can evaluate tools, strategies and solutions in real-world settings.

        Why was HomeCode created?

It was created to fill a visibility gap in the real estate industry. While there is no shortage of news, rankings or product announcements, there are few places that show how decisions are actually made — and what happens after implementation. This site exists to surface that missing layer.

        Who is HomeCode for?

HomeCode is built for real estate agents, team leaders, brokerage owners and industry operators who want to make informed decisions about their business. It’s especially useful for professionals evaluating technology, services or growth strategies that affect operations, client experience and profitability.

How is HomeCode different from real estate news sites?

Real estate news sites focus on reporting, trends and industry coverage. HomeCode focuses on decision-making and execution. It complements industry journalism by providing peer experiences, implementation insights and lessons learned rather than “clicky” headlines or agent rankings.

        Is HomeCode a technology marketplace?

No. The goal is not to push tools, promote adoption or sell anything in particular. We’re here to provide clarity through real-world examples, interviews and shared experiences from industry peers.

Why focus on technology and solutions at all?

Because every tool or service impacts more than just a budget. Technology decisions affect workflows, team adoption, client communication and the overall customer journey. This resource treats those decisions as business-critical — not transactional.

How does HomeCode help real estate professionals make better decisions?

By showing how others approach similar challenges, including the processes, tradeoffs and outcomes behind real decisions, the information we provide helps reduce risk, set realistic expectations and avoid costly missteps before committing time, money or internal resources.

What kind of content is published here?

Here you’ll find peer interviews, product reviews, pitch battles, podcasts, editorial analysis and curated resources that help real estate professionals build their businesses, evaluate solutions and adapt their operations over time. The emphasis is on context, experience and practical insight.

Does HomeCode recommend specific tools or vendors?

HomeCode doesn’t provide prescriptive recommendations. Instead, it offers perspectives, use cases, reviews and run-throughs so readers can successfully align purchases and implementation with their goals, business model and stage of growth.

What does ‘success’ mean in this context?

Success isn’t limited to revenue. It includes better client experiences, smoother transactions, clearer workflows, stronger adoption, more personal time back, and sustainable growth for agents and brokerages.

        How should HomeCode be used?

As a starting point, not a final answer. We’re here to help real estate professionals ask better questions, understand the implications of the tools they use, and approach decision-making with more clarity and confidence.

At its core, HomeCode exists to help you slow down just enough to make your decision-making smarter. Not louder. Not trend-driven.

Real estate pros don’t need more options — they need better context and a return to what’s real. By sharing real-world experiences, real peer insight and the thinking behind real decisions, HomeCode helps agents and brokerages move forward with clarity, confidence and a clearer understanding of what actually works. That’s good for you — and for the clients you serve.
